Research Blog 8: GameBike

In an article found in the Psychology, Health & Medicine Journal, a study was conducted to find the effects on exercise utilizing the GameBike, a cycle machine that would connect to a Playstation2 and be used with such games as Need for Speed and Gran Turismo.  Compared with exercise via a traditional bicycle, participants were almost twice as likely to attend sessions with the GameBike versus the more traditional bicycle sessions.  This is an important piece of research for my project as it demonstrates the appeal that video games present that can be utilized to encourage people to participate in physical activity.
