Research Post #4

As I continue to read, I’m seeing more reports about how there is no evidence to support the fact that video games increases violence in children. Many research tests and studies have been conducted over the years, many in response to horrible tragedies like the Columbine high school massacre in 1999 (which was rumored to be linked to the video game DOOM) and more recently the shooting in Colorado (which was connected the the Dark Knight series). But the problem is that the majority of these test’s results were inconsistent. Many of them conflicted with one another, and others showed no correlation to one effect or the other. This is very shocking to me because ever since I was little I’ve always been told how games with bad content are ruining this nations youth. To take it a step farther, I was never allowed to play games with any violence until I was in high school.
